A native of Detroit, Ray studied art and psychology at Michigan State University. He went on to receive his master's degree from Ohio State University. In 1964, he joined the faculty at the DAI and in 1967, joined the faculty at Wright State University. Must has participated in innumerable regional exhibitions including one person exhibitions at the DAI, WSU and Purdue University Art Galleries. He was (and is) a vital part in starting and maintaining the Dayton Printmakers Cooperative for the last 25 years. In 2006, Ray became a Montgomery County Arts & Cultural District Lifetime Achievement awardee. At age 80, he continues to work in his studio creating prints, paintings and drawings.
