DVAC will continue to mount “Short Shows” during the 2008-2009 season in the front of the gallery, between scheduled exhibitions. Short Shows are a vehicle for presenting new, innovative concepts, projects or bodies of work in a less formal manner, and to foster interaction between the artist and the public. The first 2008-09 Short Show will take place Aug. 25-Sept. 5. Interested artists should submit a paragraph describing their idea by 6 p.m. on July 22 (by email to pmauk@daytonvisualarts.org or by mail to DVAC, 118 N. Jefferson St., Dayton, OH 45402). Five artists who have submitted proposals will be selected to give short, in-person presentations at 5:30 p.m. on July 24 to a panel of board members, who will in turn select the Short Show.
Short Show artists agree to be present in the gallery during their exhibition on dates and at times that are mutually determined, and will incur any costs associated with announcements and signage. Postcards, signs and media releases are the responsibility of the artist, but must be approved by DVAC prior to release. Announcements, signage and media contact are not required. Installation/deinstallation time should be limited to six hours or less.
