The Cline Program
The Dayton Visual Arts Center honors Barb Cline’s legacy of encouraging artists to do things right with workshops, critiques and artists' dialogues.

Recent Cline Program - March 18-27 2008

InCLINEd to Document Your Work?
We think you should be! Your artwork may be deeply nuanced and richly colored, but if your images are sloppy, no one will ever know it. Selling so fast you aren’t documenting your work at all? Future curators and collectors will curse you! It’s not too late to start down the right path – you know Barb would approve.

Join us for a workshop on Tuesday, March 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. Andy Snow and Kevin Messer will go through a step-by-step lesson on how to document your work with an easy set up you can replicate at home. Learn to illuminate and photograph your art, then color correct your images with Photoshop.

Workshop fee: $10/members; $15/nonmembers

Do you prefer a one-on-one tutorial using our camera or your own? Or, would you like us to document your work for you? How about a private tutorial or drop your work off and we will do it for you?

Private Tutorials
When: Thursdays, March 20 and 27, beginning at 6 p.m.

You will be scheduled for one hour of individualized work with a professional photographer (Andy Snow or Kevin Messer). They will take you through the process of lighting your artwork, setting up your camera, capturing images and bringing them into Photoshop to save for digital and print presentation. You may bring your own camera or use the one owned by DVAC. If you bring your own camera, it must be a digital camera (a minimum of two megapixels) with a compact flash or secure digital memory card of 128 MB, a threaded tripod mount, unscratched lens and fully charged battery. CDs for capturing images will be provided. Bring two pieces of work with you. Two-dimensional work must be wired to hang on a picture hook.
Price: $50/member; $65/nonmembers

Documentation Done For You
When: March 17-29

Drop off your work on Monday, March 17 or 24 between 10 a.m. and noon; receive a CD of digital images on Friday, March 21 or 28 after 2 p.m. All artwork must be picked up by 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29. Two-dimensional work must be wired to hang on a picture hook, and cannot exceed 72 inches in any direction.
Price: Up to five pieces – $25/members; $35/nonmembers; each additional piece $5.

Call 224.3822 or email jyoung@daytonvisualarts.org to schedule a drop off time.
