Pop Nouveau with Jessica Roller December 27, 2007-January 5, 2008
Artist, Jessica Roller, prepared these images of celebrities for her short show, Pop Nouveau. The premise was to allow viewers to express themselves by altering the images with markers and paint, illustrating their own perceptions of these infamous faces.
Below are the transformations:
“Over the holidays, I had my grandkids - 8-year-old Kennon and 5-year-old Kiyah - for a few days, and the first place we headed (on the way to Granny's house) was DVAC, where they could do some painting with REAL paint and brushes at the short-show activity that was going on. They started out shyly, but were soon into adding their decorative touches to famous faces - and so did Granny. Afterwards, as we ate pizza and looked at everyone's handiwork, my 8-year-old grandson proudly proclaimed "I did all the mustaches!"
