ARTIST PALATE
Sunday, October 3, 4:30-7 p.m.

They say everything old is new again, and this is the party to revel in that axiom. Do you love the current fashions of ruffles, bias-cut fabrics and emphasis on the waistline? Are you happy about “New American Cuisine” that brings back classic cocktails, appetizers and comfort foods? Have you noticed that clean, streamlined shapes are returning to furnishings? It’s all referencing the 1930s; and this party will take you back to that simply elegant era.

Marina Miller and Rob Paddock will welcome you into one of Ohio’s rare and remarkable steel homes, built in 1938; learn more about this interesting but short-lived pre-WWII architectural trend from steel home buff Christina Pereyma. Stylish libations and a bountiful spread will be of archetypal Midwestern style.

The party, given by two musical artists, will of course include live instrumentation. Also featured are David Noffsinger’s light-saturated canvases of regional scenery, paintings that pay homage to great figurative artists of the era, such as Hopper and Benton. While you may come as casually dressed as you please, feel free to don a sweater vest and fedora or a lovely floral dress; our hostess will welcome you to their metallic abode in lamé!

Hosts: Rob Paddock & Marina Miller
Number of guests: 40
Cost per person: $50 DVAC members
