Artist Opportunities

Continuing education is important on so many fronts, because there is not a single, obvious path to being an artist. No degree, no skill set, no association guarantees you will be able to make a living in your chosen career. In fact, being an artist is more than a career - for most people, it's a primary identity that goes back to childhood.

A lot of artists work at non-related jobs, then go to their studios and work in isolation, spending a lot of money and time to create something they often have no idea how to sell. It's not an easy life, and we know it!

DVAC offers programs to make it easier to be an artist (and easier to get to know artists). We have workshops, critiques, dialogues, field trips, art-making events, get-togethers, professional development meetings; all kinds of things to give artists and art supporters community, knowledge and contacts. Come renew yourself and your ties to the arts community with DVAC.

New DVAC Program: Artwork Documentation Done For You!
DVAC can also document your work for you for a very reasonable fee! Drop off your work on a designated day and receive your high-res images, ready to upload to the site, about a week later. For more information about this program, click here.

Exhibition Opportunities:
DVAC members have the opportunity to exhibit in the gallery during the Annual Open Members' Show, the highly anticipated ARTtoBUY Holiday Gift Gallery, and a preview exhibition leading up to the Annual Art Auction. Local artists' work is featured in all of these shows. Members have additional opportunities to show, at Juried Members' Exhibitions and Short Shows.

Major exhibitions are chosen during our biennial Call for Entries, which is open to all artists. The next call will take place in the fall of 2012.
