Annual Art Auction: Thank you, Artists!!

Annual DVAC Art Auction: Request for Donations

It’s that time of year again! The time of year we request donations for the Annual DVAC Art Auction -- our most anticipated party of the year!

The Auction will be, as always, on the last Friday in April – this year: April 26, 2013 – and will take place at the David H. Ponitz Center, Sinclair Community College.

And, as always, we couldn’t do it without YOU!

How It Works

The Auction celebrates the talents of over 100 area artists whose work is donated and on display.  Over 500 guests, including both new and long-time collectors, attend and bid on works in the silent and live auctions, resulting in the largest and most successful contemporary art auction in the region. The Auction, one of Dayton’s most anticipated events of the year, is DVAC’s annual fundraiser and proceeds benefit our exhibitions and programs.

All area artists are invited to donate a work of art for the Auction. We are committed to having a wide range of media and styles at a variety of price points from emerging and established artists.

  • Artists do not have to be a DVAC member to donate; however, current members may request 25% of the final selling price of their donated work
  • Artists who donate 100% of their final sale price receive two Auction admissions
  • Artists who donate 75% of their final sale price receive one Auction admission
  • Also, thanks to our partners, Custom Frame Services, Deck the Walls and Patterson Chase Co., participating artists are eligible to receive a discount for framing their work.

Why Participate?

DVAC is dedicated to building art for the community and a community for artists. The Auction is one of the ways we engage the community in a dialogue about understanding the value of contemporary visual art and the artists working in our community today. Collectors especially, agree that one of the best ways to understand the range of work available in the Dayton region is to attend the Auction and connect with the artists who create the objects they treasure.

A special part of the event is the Live Auction, in which a select group of 15-18 works are auctioned off by a professional auctioneer in front of a room of lively bidders. Due to state tax laws, only fully donated artworks are eligible to part of the group of 15-18 works in the Live Auction. In addition, DVAC selects works to be on display at the Art Auction Preview at DVAC and at select sponsors’ offices and restaurants. Moreover, DVAC produces an Auction Program and web page that includes all donated works.
